How do I stop pop up ads for instant coffee on my Yahoo! email account?
ByThe annoying pop up for a famous coffee company takes up my screen and annoys me while reading yahoo email. My pop up blocker is set on high. Can anyone help with this annoying problem? I have emailed this company and complained but I want it stopped as soon as possible.
I don’t know which browser you use and which pop-up blocker, I just know that not all blockers are really good. Please read this and maybe switch to another blocker…
Download and install the latest Firefox browser:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html
Also install "adblock plus":
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865
Result: no more annoying ads! And pages are loading much quicker too…:-)
http://www.admuncher.com/ - this adblocker for the IE (and other browsers) gets highly recommended in several forums.
http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/26171/safari-adblock - for Safari Mac
http://opindian.com/blog/2009/02/25/adblock-solution-for-safari-4-windows-and-mac/ - another solution for Safari 4 Win and Mac.
I personally have the Firefox installed and don’t even see anymore ads on the YA pages…:-)

Not sure if I’m seeing the same Popups you are, but lately Yahoo mail has started using Flash enabled ads. They are in the banner, but they pop open an overlay window and you have to click on Yahoo mail page to get rid of it. They also pop back up if you run the mouse over the ad. The only way I could find to disable this behavior was to disable the Shockwave Flash Add-on in Explorer.
Go to menu Tools/Manage Add-ons. Then just click the Disable box. Problem is, many sites use Shockwave Flash, so you have to re-enable in when you go to those sites.
Hope it helps someone!
Mike

I clicked on tools, in my yahoo toolbar, then clicked on pop-up blocker and pop-up blocker settings. I noticed that I had "ok’d" yahoo.com for pop-ups at some point, I don’t remember why or when. So I removed them from my list of "ok’s" and that took care of it.
I, too, was getting extremely annoyed by the ads! Every time I went into my Yahoo email account, they interfered with me reading my emails. And sometimes, when I tried to close the ads, it would open the ad instead, taking me to the advertiser’s web page.
Anyway, I followed those steps, and it took care of the problem - hope it works for you!
