what’s a healthy alternative to coffee in the morning?
Byfor someone who thinks they need it in morning to wake up and make it through the day
THERE’S PLENTY WRONG WITH CAFFEINE. NUMEROUS STUDIES IN PEER-REVIEWED JOURNALS HAVE FOUND THAT CAFFEINE CAN INCREASE BLOOD LEVELS OF HOMOCYSTEINE WHICH CAN LEAD TO HEART DISEASE; IT CAN INCREASE BLOOD PRESSURE; IT CAN STIFFEN BLOOD VESSELS, ALSO LEADING TO HEART DISEASE; IT DISRUPTS SLEEP. THESE STUDIES ARE DOUBLE BLIND, PLACEBO CONTROLLED. AND MANY OF THESE NEGATIVE EFFECTS CAN MANIFEST FROM CONSUMING JUST ONE CAFFEINATED BEVERAGE. An apple. It is even been said that apples work better than coffee. If you can believe that! Apples contain alot of boron, which is a mineral believed to boost alertness. Plus they have alot of antioxidants, that will help fight disease. I personally wouldn’t try the herbal teas…they put me to sleep!

So..what’s wrong with coffee???? Lately, it’s been found to have anti-cancer properties and it stimulates your metabolism. It also helps your skin. And it enhances pain medications, like aspirin. Just about anything is OK in moderation. And coffee is a "natural" food. Drink up! Try half coffee/half milk or different blends till you get one that’s perfect for you. You can also have breakfast teas - black-for a pick-up and more antioxidants!!! Godloveya.

I believe caffeine in general can send a person into a mania state (of course symptoms vary from person to person). I drink coffee whenever I’m feeling down (I’m bipolar as well) and it puts me in a mania state. I found two websites that mention it. I would assume that it would have the possibility of sending certain people into mania anyway though.

Tea is a good choice, the herbal teas come in a large verity of taste,, coffee is what I drink in the morning, love it, the bad thing about caffeine is that it dehydrates you , so just have a good old glass of pure water a little later

If they are avid coffee lovers who are trying to kick the caffeine habit, try gradual from high test coffee (regular) to half-caf to eventually de-caf, bearing in mind even de-caf has small amount of caffeine which occurs naturally. A good alternative is hot tea, which has a baziilion flavor varieties ind decaf form. If it is a physical dependence, it has to be treated just as any other (smoking, food, etc). If it is just for the energy boost they need the coffee, a good breakfast including fruit (apples are great) is another starting point, and if they can toss in a little exercise routine, they may find they didnt need that java after all.

Tea or water. Fruit juice and vitamins should give you energy that won’t burn off like coffee.

Coffee also flushes any benefits that you might have from vitamins that you might be taking. I find and use liquid panex ginseng, it gives me four hours of complete energy then lets you down safely. It also builds the immune system is you are less likely to catch colds, virus and flu. I use the brand from China in the green box and you can buy this product in health food stores. I buy the strongest that I can get which is 8400, if you have not tried this product before, just go for the milder ginseng 4500. Read up online, there is lots of info on this product.
